What is it

We have longitudinal zones, transverse zones and coronal zones to access reflex points in the body. It is in this third key area that I have concentrated my efforts since 1999 and developed the method known as Coronal Zone Reflex Therapy™. Working in this plane allows therapists access deeper inside the ‘core’ of the body, releasing the patient from longstanding stagnation.

The first day will focus on examining the theory and philosophy behind the technique and will give the therapist the opportunity to practise this simplistic and highly effective treatment process, and to incorporate it immediately into their existing programmes of work.

The second will consolidate on the work of the first and allow the reflexologist to immediately see ideal situations within their own practice where this work will be both powerful and effective.

When we are conceived and made into flesh out of pure energy, we decide to take up a particular shape. This is known as the foetal position and we adopt it for nearly the first nine months of our existence. As matter crystallises out of this energy, it still carries with it the shape of that energy field into the outside world. 

When we work with the feet, reflexologists can clearly see, especially with the arms and leg reflexes how this translates into ‘real’ terms. The elbow and knee reflexes in particular sit side by side on the lateral edge of the foot on the metatarsal tuberosity.

If you can picture the analogy of splitting someone down the middle (along the midline) and then opening them up like a travelling chest into two equal halves, you would then have access to the core of the body and be able to work back through the organs to the patient’s external frame, e.g. arms, ribs, hips, etc. 

The energy direction is from the side but the segmentation is on differing layers from front to back, from anterior to posterior. (Incidentally, it is worthwhile remembering here, from dealing with the hol- ographic principle that the front is the back and the back is the front. For example, if I want to access someone’s eyes I can either touch them via the face or drill through the back of the head!).
